Wake Your Praise Up!
But if I say I'll never mention the LORD or speak in his name, his
word burns in my heart like a fire. It's like a fire in my bones! I am
worn out trying to hold it in! I can't do it! But the LORD stands
beside me like a great warrior. Before him my persecutors will stumble.
They cannot defeat me. They will fail and be thoroughly humiliated.
Their dishonor will never be forgotten. (Jeremiah 29:9, 11, NASB) (emphasis mine)
The prophet Jeremiah felt God was toying with him. God had given him a very unpopular message to deliver, and thereby Jeremiah became a very unpopular messenger among the people of Judah. The people didn't like what he had to say, they talked about him, he heard the rumors being spread about him, and he just felt like God was doing him wrong. But he basically said,
"I can't keep quiet. If I try not to speak His words are like fire shut up in my bones."
Some of us, like Jeremiah feel like God has done us wrong, and we don't understand why some things are happening. Don't feel rained on - many of us have been there; I completely understand where you are. I face naysayers on a daily basis, but you know what I decided to do? Keep it moving! You know the vision God has planted in your spirit, He has confirmed it over and over, yet you can't get to it because your eyes are on the wrong thing, so you've put your praise away. Your praise is asleep somewhere deep inside of you. Wake it up! See, we try to answer all the questions, and yes, we even try to put ourselves in God's place and try to figure it all out. "How am I going to. . .? How am I going to pay for. . .? Well, what am I going to . . .?" Your praise has drowned in all the questions. You still have a praise, but by now you may have to reach way down to get it. Trust me, I understand. Being a praiser and an intentional worshiper doesn't mean smooth sailing all the time. It just means we have to be that much more determined to walk out God's plan and purpose for our lives. Somebody's going to think you're crazy because you chose to praise God even when you don't have all the answers. It's not our responsibility to have all the answers; that's God's business. Wake your praise up, and go do what God is calling you to do. Your praises to an almighty, holy and all-wise God will keep your focus on Him, and off of those things you can't explain.
Open your Bible to the Psalms and begin again feeding the praises of God into your spirit. Begin again singing the praises of God in your heart. Open your mouth and begin to whisper (or scream) "Hallelujah!" to God. It doesn't matter to Him whether you whisper or scream, or whether it's audible at all - His only concern is that it's all coming from a sincere heart.
Are you desperate enough to wake your praise up?
Blessings on you. . .
