A cappella Worship Concert (AWC) 2016

It was easy to spot the lights for me. Never has that hall been better decorated. The red carpet event stand just in front of the building signaled something spectacular. Joan Igbava and Co were in hand to do the paparazzi. There was enough time to rekindle old friendships. Just at that spot as the interviews were going on, and salutations, a spectacle of warm reception beaconed.

We were soon inside. Few but ready. That's how we started. Dr. Osagiede Idehen and his crew from Hosanna Acapella Choir (HAC) did the opening. Tune upon tune. Old songs. New songs. The rhythm that makes us love to sing. And sing we did. The spiritual twins from Port Harcourt were intense. High sounding and passionate. Bamiduro from Lagos gave that calm spice. His ‘my dream' and ‘Yes we can' were just lovely. And yes, we prayed. Kumayon kumasi ensured we did. Then came the host choir. The We Love Acapella (WLA) Mass Choir. It was trilling the bunch of young talents on display. A rich blend of contemporary Nigerian gospel songs neatly woven into a melodious medley. I was trilled.

Some events leave memories that linger. So much anticipation. So much expectation. So much preparation. As the days rolled into weeks and months, it made the wait more intense for lovers of acapella worship in this part of God's globe. Jingles and flyers all around. Then at last it came. Friday December 16th, 2016. The AWC came alive in the auditorium of the Church of Christ, Ugboroke.
He was everywhere for the most part of it but finally had just enough time to share the story with us. John Onoriode, the convener of the event, passionately as always played his part on stage. And ‘Osas' was back to wrap it all up in praises to whom it's due.
Angels sing. We sing too. And God loves it when saints praise him on this side of eternity. That's why we await another moment of praise worship, soon!
We love acapella.
